Spring portion of the terminal absorbs stress imparted by alignment errors. This reduces the stress applied to the mounted parts. This also enhances reliability and prevents solder cracking.

Hirose's connectors meet high-speed communication needs with their solid performance and structure. With such needs as tele-communications, automotive, factory automation and medical devices.

(1) Impedance
Hirose optimizes the shape of terminals that serve as communication paths, accounting for contact pitch and insulation materials. The connectors conform to general specifications for substrates, targeting a matching value of (Ω) ± 10%. FunctionMAX high-speed transmission connectors are designed to fully ensure impedance matching.

(2) Crosstalk
FunctionMAX connectors optimize ground assignment of contacts between differential pairs to reduce crosstalk, accounting for contact pitch and transmission rates.

(3) Insertion/return loss
This is the most commonly used parameter for judging signal quality of high-speed connectors. Characteristics are basically adjusted by matching impedances.

(4) Skew
Paths (terminal lengths) within differential pairs, adjacent differential pairs, and opposed differential pairs are designed to be equal. Note : Some products do not have equally-arranged lengths between opposite differential pairs.

(5) Eye pattern
The shape of an eye diagram is depended on parameters from (1) through (4), and a reasonable eye opening can be obtained in most of cases. However, it does not mean that we can achieve good signal integrity as long as the eye is opened and be regardless of other parameters with an inverse-calculation way of thinking.

(6) Signal Integrity (SI) support system
Hirose supports customer decision-making by providing connector simulation models, (e.g. Touchstone and IBIS), SI supports, or conformance checks for signal standards.

This is the first floating connector series developed at Hirose. With the highcontact reliability, independent two-point contact design, it meets severe industrial and automotive requirements.

FX22

FX22 Series

Developed as a coplanar version of the FX20. Enables co-planar connections with multiple connectors. This series also incorporates a highly-reliable two-point contact design. The ultra low-profile design contributes to the reduced size of finished product sets.

FX23_23L

This series achieves two functions in one connector: floating function and high-speed transmission. Saves space by incorporating a power hybrid design. Connectors are also suitable for use with conformal coatings applied after soldering.

FX18

FX18 Series

The core FunctionMAX connector. User-friendly with a broad range of options. Power terminals can also be used for sequence and grounding applications and ac as multi-function terminals.

FX27

FX27 Series

Added floating function and high-speed transmission capability to this card edge connector. As an interface between top and bottom boards, it can be also used as a stacking connector. Stacking height, wiring and component mounting are customizable.

Developed for power sources. Features a special misalignment absorbing design similar to floating connectors. UL/C-UL and TÜV compliant.
